“In the field, a small orange tree is swaying, not from the wind or the sun, but it is a young girl swaying from a heavy sadness, because her mother is going to marry her off to a widower.” Klapa music is a traditional a cappella style in Dalmatia, Croatia, that has its roots in church singing. In 2012 Klapa was inscribed in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is usually sung by 4 to 12 men, but female vocal groups have recently been quite popular.
